You should be able to open the file from that folder or from the bottom of some browser windows.<\/li>\n<li>Save the document with a meaningful and descriptive name before moving on. The styles include headings that result in the document having a hierarchical structure shown below. This is how it should initially appear:<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Initial appearance of the syllabus template\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.dsu.edu\/olsonch\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2023\/06\/Initial-Appearance-Syllabus.jpg\"><\/li>\n<li>When you enter a field (when it has the focus) it will appear highlighted like the field shown above. Simply begin typing to replace the placeholder text. When you begin typing the field will be replaced by text that uses either the <em>Normal<\/em> or <em>IndentedParagraph<\/em> style.<\/li>\n<li>If you wish to have text appear immediately below the previous line and not in a new paragraph, you can do so by hitting <kbd>Shift<\/kbd> and <kbd>Enter<\/kbd>.<\/li>\n<li>After you have typed the text you want to appear in the field, you can move to the next field by pressing the <kbd>\u2193<\/kbd> (down arrow) key. You can also click on the field with the mouse to select it and begin typing.<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Partially completed\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.dsu.edu\/olsonch\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2023\/06\/Partially-Completed-Syllabus.gif\"><\/li>\n<li>The last dates that students can Drop or Withdraw from a class can be found on DSU&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/dsu.edu\/academics\/academic-calendar\">Academic Calendar<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>For the <strong>Approved course description:<\/strong>, you can use the course description from the <a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.dsu.edu\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">DSU Catalog<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>If you do not use all of the &#8220;Optional&#8221; or &#8220;Additional&#8221; sections, I suggest replacing the placeholder text with <strong>None<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Links to the final exam schedule can be found on DSU&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/dsu.edu\/academics\/academic-calendar\">Academic Calendar<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Keep the following points in mind when adding any content to the document:\n<ul>\n<li>If you insert or paste more text at the end of the document, apply the <em>Heading1<\/em> and <em>Heading2<\/em> styles as appropriate. Use these steps to do so:\n<ol>\n<li>Select the text that should be a heading.<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"some text that should be a heading selected\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.dsu.edu\/olsonch\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2023\/06\/selected-text.gif\"><\/li>\n<li>On the <strong>Home<\/strong> tab, click the <strong>Heading1<\/strong> style in the Styles group.<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Heading 1 style selector on the home tab\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.dsu.edu\/olsonch\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2023\/06\/Heading1.gif\">   <\/li>\n<li>The text should now appear as a main heading.<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Heading 1 style applied to text\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.dsu.edu\/olsonch\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2023\/06\/text-as-heading.gif\"><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Any images that are inserted or pasted into the document should have an <strong>Alt Text<\/strong> attribute. Use these steps to add the <strong>Alt Text<\/strong> attribute to an image:\n<ol>\n<li>Right click on the image and choose the <strong>View Alt Text&#8230;<\/strong> option (or select the image, click the <strong>Picture Format<\/strong> tab, and then click the <strong>Alt Text<\/strong> button):<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Alt Text pane with instructions included as text\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.dsu.edu\/olsonch\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2023\/06\/Format-Picture-Task-Pane.gif\"><\/li>\n<li>Alt Text provides alternative, text-based representations of the information contained in tables, diagrams, images, and other objects. This information is useful for people with vision or cognitive impairments who may not be able to see or understand the object.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>To ensure that the document is free of accessibility errors after it has been completed, click the <strong>Review<\/strong> tab and then the <strong>Check Accessibility<\/strong> button:<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Check Accessibility button on the Review tab\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.dsu.edu\/olsonch\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2023\/06\/CheckAccessibilityButton.gif\"><br \/>The <strong>Accessibility<\/strong> pane should appear on the right side of the  window.
